Netsenet has over 10 years of experience as a childcare professional, full circle doula, and childbirth educator. Throughout her career, she has developed an art for providing family care. Drawing form her educational and professional experience, she considers herself a Family Care Midwife -  providing intuitive, full-presence care that honors the care needs of the child(ren) and the family while supporting parents/caregivers to identify growth points and implement strategies to strengthen their bond as a family.

What's the difference between a...
  • Babysitter may be hired for occasional, last-minute or short-term care while parent/caregiver is unavailable

  • Babysitter engages in fun activities with the child(ren) and may follow a routine or schedule as directed by parent/caregiver

  • Babysitter may provide the child with meals already prepared by the parent/caregiver

  • Babysitters may charge rates that start at $15/hour

  • Nanny may be hired for temporary or long-term care either part-time or full-time

  • Nanny knows the intricate rhythms of daily life with the child(ren) and develops a deep connection to the child but may not develop a deep connection to the parents 

  • Nanny may do daily maintenance tasks like prep daily meals and laundry

  • Nanny may provide educational support for the child(ren)

  • Nanny may be asked to provide care overnight, weekends, and/or travel abroad with the family 

  • Nanny may charge rates that start at $21/hour

  • Doula may be hired for short-term or long-term care specific to the stage of pregnancy

  • Family Care Midwife (FCM) is hired for long-term care

  • FCM knows the intricate rhythms of daily life with the family and develops a deep connection to the child(ren and the parents/caregivers

  • FCM serves as a knowledgeable and intuitive guide + educational liaison

  • FCM may have consistent check-ins with the family to discuss the developmental needs, expectations, and growth points of the child(ren) and the family 

  • FCM may create routines, schedules and goal plans suitable for the child(ren) and family care needs

  • FCM becomes an integral part of the family and is included in traditions, special occasions, travel and events

  • FCM may charge rates that start at $50/hour
